WHITE NORDIC SPRUCE
Nordic Spruce (Picea abies) is a natural light colored wood. It has a natural mild wood scent and a pleasant light color. Although not a traditional wood choice, it has become extremely popular due to its fabulous texture, quality and availability of material. It is found in abundance in the northern hemisphere. This wood is collected from the commercially grown arctic forests in Finland. The quality of the wood is A-grade, which is clearly visible in the texture. The wood is optimal for Sauna and furniture use.

YELLOW NORDIC PINE
The Nordic Yellow Pine (Pinus silvestris) is a light colored and attractive looking wood. Over time the wood will turn to a richer yellow colour. The wood is considered extremely robust due to the Nordic climate in Finland, the circles in the grain of the wood are tighter making it harder but also producing an attractive smooth surface. This wood is found in abundance in Finland and our saunas use wood collected only from commercially grown forests. Yellow Nordic Pine is the traditional choice and used for centuries in the Sauna making, nearly all traditional Sauna's in Finland are made using this wood. Today both Yellow Pine and Nordic Spruce have become the major wood used for Sauna use.

RED EUROPEAN ALDER
This exclusive European Alder (Alnus glutinosa) is a true luxury wood. It offers a fine uniform texture with a reddish color. This gives it a high quality and rich look. Within the last few decades this wood has become the standard for exclusive sauna establishments, upscale hotels and luxurious home saunas. The color is much more stable and uniform than the Red Cedar. The scent is enjoyable and sweet. And the durable strong finish has been proven and tested. Often this wood is noted for its ability to withstand decay under moist conditions, again making it ideal for Sauna use.
Found in abundance in Europe and used prominently in Venice and Amsterdam due to its durability. Several different sub-species exist and in Northern Europe and other sub-species exist in the western pacific coast of North America. The wood is therefore found prominently in commercial grown forests. Alder offers a contemporary touch to the age old Sauna tradition, with Alder the modern quality Sauna has revived itself to the luxurious enjoyment it truly is. |
